Celebrate the New Year with cinnamon star cookies! Made with only 4 ingredients, these chewy cookies fill your taste buds with the flavors of orange and cinnamon. This recipe was adapted from a German Christmas cookie called Zimtsterne and is made with almond flour, an orange, spices, and powdered sugar.

How To Make
I suggest using a food processor to mix the dough, but these cookies can also be made using a bowl and spoon.
1. Mix dry ingredients together. Add almond flour, spices and powdered sugar to a food processor.
2. Add in the wet ingredients. Mix in the orange zest and orange juice until the dough is crumbly. If it’s too dry add a little more orange juice. The dough should be able to stick together when pressed between your fingers.
3. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30-60 minutes. After chilled, preheat the oven to 350°F.

4. Place the dough between 2 layers of plastic wrap or parchment paper and roll it out with a rolling pin until about ¼” thick.
5. Use a star shaped cookie cutter to cut out the cookies.
6. Transfer the cookies to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 8 minutes. Depending on the thickness of the cookies, the baking time may vary by 1-2 minutes.

7. While the cookies are baking, mix together the glaze of powdered sugar and water in a small bowl until it is a creamy paste.
8. Brush the glaze on the cooled cookies, let them dry and enjoy!
9. These cookies freeze well, but if freezing, wait to apply the glaze until after they thaw.
