Quick & Easy DIY Exfoliating Honey Sugar Scrub

Exfoliating your skin is an enjoyable way to keep it healthy and youthful. Making your own body scrub is quick and easy using items you already have at home.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology exfoliation removes the top layer of dead skin improving your skin’s appearance and making it better able to absorb moisturizer. It also stimulates the production of collagen helping to improve skin elasticity. But don’t over do it. Over exfoliating can irritate your skin especially if you have sensitive skin.

Once or twice a week, I like using a gentle sugar scrub, instead of the more abrasive salt scrub. I add raw honey to my recipe for its antimicrobial properties. Including coconut oil helps to heal skin irritations, infections and fungus as stated in this article. Coconut oil is also a great moisturizer. The lavender and peppermint essential oils in this scrub makes for a relaxing and invigorating experience.

After showering using this sugar scrub, apply Moisturizing Body Butter to further promote a healing treatment for your skin.
